Four Point Probe Head ![]() JANDEL ENGINEERING LTD. manufactures a four point probe for use in making Hall measurements. It is a precision probe head which has a square arrangement of the probes with 2.00 mm separation. The height overall is 18.5 mm when the needles are uncompressed. The probe needles can be built to suit a specific requirements, but are commonly supplied with 100 micron tips radius. Spring load is fixed at 100 grams. The lead is unscreened and approximately 1 meter long. Except for the piano wire springs, all of the materials used in the construction are non-magnetic. These probe are made on a special basis. Jandel four point probe heads are built with upper and lower jewel bearings and are built to 1% mechanical accuracy. Final testing involves the use of calibrated measurement instruments (electronic force gauge, video inspection system, interferometer) to verify tip radii, tip spacing, spring load, and tip planerity. Square array probes have the current passed between two adjacent probes and the voltage measured across the two opposite when used for resistivity measurement. Probes with the square array give half the signal voltage when compared to linear array probes. |
